Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Red Rocks! It’s just an epic venue unlike anything else. I’ve seen more shows than I can count starting in 1999 with the Allman Bros. It’s not EASY–this venue is sort of high maintenance–but it’s really, really worth it. Parking is far away, it’s hard to get an Uber at the end of the show, there are A LOT of stairs and walking, but in the end there is nothing like seeing a show in between those two behemoth rocks.

If you really care about sound, anything above row 35 can be tricky. Sometimes it’s fine but if the wind is whipping through there the sound can just get carried away. But, there are benefits of being up high, like seeing the city lights. I was there last year when The Avs won the Stanley Cup and I could see fireworks erupting all over the city. I’ve also been up there when storms roll in and watched the lightning come our way. It’s all breathtaking.

Overall, be ready to walk a lot (there is a shuttle to get up to the gates if you need it, but still a lot of walking inside. If you’re at all compromised, get a handicapped access ticket and feel no guilt). Bring a rain coat!! (Yes, always.) Up top near the bathrooms there is a cool “museum” with posters and such. Sort of cool to look at.

If you haven’t been, GO! ASAP! It’s a bucket list venue for sure.

Red Rocks is a bucket list venue fo sho. Some would argue it is the best venue ever. It is hard to argue that point. While at the venue, you are immersed in beautiful nature, with beautiful views while listening to great music. It is easy to move about the venue to meet up with your crew. Most shows are GA here, though not all are. PSA: flat landers/out of towners should take note of the altitude. The venue is an elevation above 6k which can lead to sunburn, dehydration and such, especially if you’re drinking all day. Also, be prepared to get a workout while seeing a show there. One should bring a raincoat, sunscreen and layers as the venue is in the Colorado foothills where the weather can change fast. It is not uncommon for a rainstorm to roll through unexpectedly. That being said, when everything is right on the Rocks, there is nowhere you would rather be. There is a reason there have been so many legendary shows at this venue.
